Harvey’s Hypertextual Finance Glossary

A glossary of more than 8,000 finance terms. The definitions are clear and concise. There are more than 18,000 hyperlinks between words in definitions and corresponding glossary entries. There is no true search functionality for this site. Once the user has selected a letter from the alphabetic listings, they can either scroll down and browse the list or use the “FIND” function within their web browser.

Oxford English Dictionary (aka the OED)

More than just definitions. The OED is the world’s leading authority on the history and development of the English language. The OED allows users to find words that have come into English via a particular language. Search for quotation using a particular word from a specific year, author, or work. You can also and turn pronunciation, etymologies, variant spellings and quotation on and off.

A dictionary and thesaurus combination. Type in a word and get a definition, synonyms, and a list of usage examples.  A nice feature of this site is that many words have a link to an audiofile where you can hear a pronunciation of the word.
